SHH-Series High-Head Slurry Pump

SHH-Series High-Head Slurry Pump

The SHH series is the high-head build of our horizontal range, for long discharge lines and elevated discharge. Dimensional data is available on request for fit checking before ordering.

SHH-series high-head slurry pump, inlet flange showing the replaceable liner

High-head build of the horizontal range — selected when duty head exceeds what the standard hydraulic range covers efficiently, or for the first stage of a series set on long tailings lines.

  • Shares double-casing construction, transmission parts and mounting with the standard series
  • Recommended flow band 40–80 % of BEP on medium-concentration abrasive slurry
  • 40–100 % of BEP on low-concentration low-abrasive slurry
  • Trades curve width for head — the standard series reaches 120 % on light duty
  • Series operation to order; expeller seal applies to the first stage only
  • Wear materials A05 / A07 / A49 selected by wear mechanism and pH

Overview

The SHH series is the high-head build of our horizontal slurry pump range. It shares the double-casing construction, transmission parts and mounting arrangements of the standard series, and is selected when the duty head exceeds what the standard hydraulic range covers efficiently — typically long tailings lines, elevated discharge, or the first stage of a series set.

Operating Range

Slurry pumps are not run across their whole curve; the usable band narrows as the medium gets heavier. For the SHH build the recommended flow band is:

  • Medium concentration, medium abrasive slurry — 40 % to 80 % of best-efficiency flow.
  • Low concentration, low abrasive slurry — 40 % to 100 % of best-efficiency flow.

The maximum efficiency point at a given speed corresponds to 100 % flow in these bands. Running below 40 % risks recirculation and accelerated wear; running above the band costs efficiency and shortens wear life. The standard SH/SM hydraulic range is published with its own bands: 40–80 % on high-concentration strongly abrasive slurry, 40–100 % on medium, and 40–120 % on low-concentration low-abrasive slurry.

Construction

Double-casing: the pump body and cover carry replaceable wear-resistant liners, with the impeller, volute liner, throatbush and frame plate liner insert as separate wear elements. Body and cover are cast in grey or ductile iron according to working pressure, vertically split and bolted, with the body bolted to the bracket against a stop. The impeller carries back vanes on both shrouds to limit recirculation. Discharge orientation is adjustable at 45° intervals through eight positions.

Cross-section of the heavy-duty horizontal build: frame, bearing assembly, stuffing box, frame plate, volute liner, cover plate, impeller, throatbush and frame plate liner insert
Heavy-duty horizontal build — section. Construction is common to the SH, SM and SHH hydraulic ranges.
Cross-section of the rubber-lined build: expeller, expeller ring, rubber frame plate liner, cover plate liner, suction liner and impeller
Rubber-lined build — section. Body, cover and transmission parts are shared with the metal-lined build.

Series Operation

Where a single stage cannot deliver the head, units can be arranged in series to order. In a series set the expeller seal is applicable to the first-stage pump; downstream stages see inlet pressure and are sealed accordingly. Specify the intended arrangement at enquiry so the sealing and casing pressure rating are matched to position in the train.

Wear Materials

A05 high-chrome white iron (KmTBCr27, δb ≥700 MPa, ≥HRC62) for high-impact abrasive wear at pH 5–12; A07 (KmTBCr15Mo, δb ≥550 MPa, ≥HRC65) where erosion dominates; A49 (δb ≥600 MPa, HRC43) for low-pH duty at pH ≥4. Rubber and polyurethane wet ends are available for fine high-concentration slurry.

Typical Applications

  • Long-distance tailings and concentrate transport.
  • Elevated discharge from mill and flotation circuits.
  • High-lift dewatering in mining and quarrying.
  • Power station ash and slag transfer over distance.
  • First-stage duty in multistage slurry transport sets.

Selection

Give us the flow and head, the medium with solids concentration and particle size, the pH, and whether the pump will run single or in series. We will confirm the model, the wear material and the sealing arrangement, and issue the performance curve with the quotation.

When is the high-head build the right selection?

When the duty head is beyond the efficient coverage of the standard hydraulic range, or when the pump is the first stage of a series set for long-distance transport.

What flow band should the pump run in?

40–80 % of best-efficiency flow on medium-concentration medium-abrasive slurry, and 40–100 % on low-concentration low-abrasive slurry. Running below 40 % accelerates wear.

Can two pumps run in series?

Yes, to order. Specify the arrangement at enquiry so casing pressure rating and sealing are matched to the position of each pump in the train.

Are the wear parts common with the standard series?

The transmission parts, bracket and mounting arrangements are common across the horizontal range. Wet-end elements are specific to the hydraulic build.

Are you affiliated with any other pump manufacturer?

No. SHANGLISHI PUMP GROUP is an independent manufacturer. Our products are not manufactured by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any other pump maker, and all model designations and dimensions shown are our own.
