Most people arrive at this page for one of two reasons: they are sizing a pump for a duty, or they are checking whether our pump and wear parts will fit equipment already installed. Both are covered below.

Sizing a Pump for a Duty

Selection is decided by the slurry before it is decided by the duty point. The questions that matter, in order:

  1. What is the largest solid? Not the average — the largest. It sets the minimum pump size regardless of flow and head.
  2. What is the solids concentration and density? Both raise the head the pump must generate and the rate at which it wears.
  3. What is the pH? Below pH 5 the high-chrome grades are not appropriate, and the material decision changes entirely.
  4. Are the particles angular or rounded? Shape decides between metal and elastomer more reliably than hardness does.
  5. Then flow and head. Only now does the duty point become meaningful.

Checking Fit Against an Installed Pump

We publish our own model coding and dimensional data so that fit can be checked before an enquiry is raised. Our model numbers describe the pump: in the form 10/8ST-SAH the first figure is the discharge diameter in inches, the second the suction diameter, the letters the frame form, and the final group the series.

Five dimensions decide whether a pump or part will physically fit — connection diameters, mounting footprint and bolt pattern, discharge flange group, shaft and sleeve dimensions, and impeller axial position relative to the front liner. All are published per model. Where the model number on an installed pump is unreadable, parts can be manufactured against a dimensioned drawing or a sample part.
